At Phillip Lim, the models rocked out in tough eyes and pale pink lips—just the thing for the disco-punk pieces he sent down the catwalk. “Phillip was going for an elegant punk-rock princess look,” says NARS lead makeup artist Lisa Butler, who created the look backstage. “The eyes were punchy and edgy, while the lips were a soft, sheer pink.”

Everything was on point at Tibi—the floral minidresses, the artfully mussed curls—but the makeup was especially fierce. “For Fall, the Tibi woman is disheveled, but elegant at the same time,” said Bobbi Brown makeup artist Wendy Rowe, who created the look. “We married ‘pretty’ with ‘powerful’ by doing a ‘60s cat eye with a bit of pink blush and a nude lip.”

At Marc Jacobs, the models rocked “morning after” makeup—ie, imperfect smoky eyes and slightly faded, unlined lips. “These girls are sexy and cool,” says Francois Nars, Creative Director of NARS Cosmetics and head makeup artist for the show. “Their makeup looks dirty and worn out as if it’s been on all night…but it still translates beautifully on the runway.”

The makeup at the Arise Magazine African Collective show was all about easy, effortless glamour. The bold, darkened brows, shimmering skin and pale pink lips managed to look gorgeous on all the models, from the fairest to the deepest complexions. We have a feeling we’ll be copying this look all Spring…
