“When I write, I really believe that a lot of times artists these days don’t celebrate the Black woman like we should,” he said. “We don’t do songs that uplift them or that show them that they’re beautiful and that they can get through whatever they’re going through. I feel that it’s important that we bring that message and that type of music back.”
