Not only did the NWA biopic scored the No. 3 box office spot for the third week in a row, but it officially became the highest-grossing musical biopic... in history. The previous record holder was Walk the Line, the Johnny Cash biopic, which made $119 million. However, Straight Outta Compton surpassed that, grossing $134 million in only three weeks.
