Common officially has the greenlight from network television. Showtime has ordered a pilot for an untitled coming-of-age drama produced by Common and Lena Waithe (Dear White People). "The two creative forces behind the show, both hailing from Chicago's South Side, give this pilot an unparalleled authenticity," Showtime execs said in a statement. Filming is scheduled to begin later this year. [Deadline]

More than 50 years after delivering his iconic "I Have a Dream Speech" in Washington D.C., an early recorded version of the speech has been uncovered. A North Carolina English professor found recordings of the speech, which King delivered at a high school eight months before his famed 1963 proclamation. The earlier speech showed various similarities, including the repeated use of the phrase, "I have a dream." [The Huffington Post]

As Tracy Morgan continues to recover from a fatal crash that took the life of comedian James McNair, authorities have determined that Kevin Roper, the truck driver who hit Morgan's limo, was suffering from extreme fatigue. The National Transportation Safety Board announced that Roper had been awake for an alarming 28 hours prior to the crash. [The Washington Post]
