Monica is back with her eight studio album, Code Red. In honor of the release, she's stepping out with a drastic new hair cut and color: a candy apple red pixie.

“The cut symbolizes me getting back to the fearlessness and courageous part of myself that I shared with the world in the ’90s when I released my first album Miss Thang,” Monica said. “I love that the cover speaks to how I feel as a woman, artist, mother and wife.” [People]

Tia Mowry-Hardrict didn't take too kindly to Keke Palmer saying that she had a crush on her husband, Cory Hardrict. Palmer, who co-stars with Cory Hardrict in the film Brotherly Love, appeared on The Wendy Williams Show to set the record straight.

"Everything got misconstrued. What happened was, I’ve known Cory since I was 10 years old. And in the interview I was talking about how the whole Brotherly Love cast, we kind of grew up together. I was like ‘I’ve known Cory since I was 10 and I was like I’m going to marry this man,’ as a 10-year-old. It was me quoting how I was as a kid."

Palmer went on to clarify that she does not make a habit of crushing on married men.  “Cory is great, but that’s not my style. But I do love Cory. I do love Cory and Tia," she said. [Hello Beautiful]

Laverne Cox continues to prove that trans women are beautiful by posing nude in Allure magazine. Although she admits she was nervous about baring her skin, she says her body was something the world needs to see and appreciate.

“Going through life, you try to cover and hide, but it doesn’t really work," Cox said. "Black women are not often told that we’re beautiful unless we align with certain standards. Trans women certainly are not told we’re beautiful. Seeing a Black transgender woman embracing and loving everything about herself might be inspiring to some other folks. There’s beauty in the things we think are imperfect." [Madame Noire]

Ballerina Misty Copeland is making history with her performance in "Swan Lake."  For the first time, two Black dancers—Copeland included—are playing the lead roles in the iconic production.

“'Swan Lake' was not something I ever saw in my future, in terms of dancing the lead. It’s just something so ingrained in the ballet culture and us as dancers that you just envision a certain type of person portraying that role,” Copeland said. “It’s incredible to be able to be a brown swan.”

Copeland will dance in Washington Ballet production of "Swan Lake" in Washington D.C. [Hello Beautiful]
