Kisha’s intricate cowry shell headpiece was made for her by Sherri Hobson of Beauloni Style.
Bridal designer Cassandra Bromfield created gorgeous silk shantung shawls with African-print detail for Kisha’s bridesmaids, including her sister Malika Simmons who stands with her daughter Dominique DeLisle, grandmother Louise Williams, the bride and the bride’s mother Laverne Cameron.
Kisha’s wedding dress was a gift from her aunt who accompanied her on a shopping trip in New Jersey.
“I hadn’t planned to buy my dress that day,” Kisha confesses. “My grandmother, my sister, my aunt and my niece were there. I walked out of the dressing room and they had a heart attack.”
The Dingles entered the reception hall to the beat of African drummers, provided as a wedding gift to the couple from their friend Mahen Bonetti.
“All the spirits of our ancestors showed up,” Kisha says. “I really wanted it to feel like Eric’s mother (Gloria Dinkins Dingle who had passed away during the couple’s engagement) was there and I really wanted to feel my grandmother (Ivy Cameron), and they were definitely there.”
Photographer Parris Whittingham said of the couple, “I knew in our very first conversation that this was a great connection.”
