Bridal Bliss: Kelli and Anthony

Kelli thought she’d never find a guy who met her standards but then Anthony walked into the bar where she was enjoying happy hour with friends. They hit it off instantly, and four years later, he asked her to be his wife while on a romantic vacation in the Bahamas.

"The theme of my wedding was modern elegance," says Kelli. "I was able to execute almost every detail because I had the best wedding planner ever, Nicole Roberts of Final Beginnings Event Planning. She was absolutely amazing."

“I researched various wedding hairstyles and fell in love with the side bun,” says the bride. “It was a modern look that remained very elegant.”

"I always believed true love would find me," says Kelli. "My parents had a marriage that was proof positive that true love does exist."

“I was waiting to meet the right one for me,” says Anthony. “For men, it’s mostly about timing, and whether or not you are open at that time to give someone your heart.”

"My husband has an excellent sense of style, so he selected his stunning Calvin Klein black tuxedo and the groomsmen's Vera Wang slim fit charcoal grey tuxedos, with my approval of course," Kelli tells us.

The couple chose First Baptist Church of Charleston because it’s beautiful and intimate. A handmade sign directed guests who arrived to celebrate their love.

“I was especially proud of my bridesmaid dresses,” says Kelli. “I was determined to find a dress that did not forgo style, looked great on all body types and could actually be worn again. I realize I was trying for the impossible but I succeeded.”

Kelli’s father passed away in 2000 so her uncle had the honor of walking her down the aisle to meet her groom. She chose to march to Kenny G’s “Waiting On You.”

“The reverend performed a rose ceremony, which was about forgiveness and saying I love you,”’ says Kelli. “He gave each of us a rose and spoke on the importance of realizing that perfection is not possible. He suggested that we designate an area in our home where a rose can be placed spontaneously. This nonverbal action would always mean I love you.”

“Looking into Anthony’s eyes at the altar, I was so excited because I was confident that I was marrying a man who was great for me,” says Kelli.

The Broussards held a tented reception on the grounds of Lowndes Groves, a plantation home on Ashley River. The bride tells us that they’re exemplary catering was one of the biggest selling points.

"I said yes because I knew that I could love and live with the man that Tony is," says Kelli. "Meaning, even though we have many differences (both of us are Type A) we have basic principles that we share and are committed to. I didn’t feel as if I would need to change him in order for our marriage to be successful."

"Tony and I decided to go our separate ways after dating for a little over a year," says Kelli. "It was a hard but necessary decision. We were apart for approximately one year. The day Tony, on his own accord, confidently looked me in the eyes and said that he was ready for the type of relationship I deserved, I knew then he was the one."

"Tony’s confidence in himself and his own success in his career allows him to lift me higher and higher," says Kelli.
