Egypt’s gown was purchased as a back-up gown to her original wedding dress, which she had planned to wear when she and Mike chose a destination wedding. Everyone loved Egypt’s substitute better than the chosen gown, so in the end she walked down the aisle in it.

Q Parker, from R&B group 112, sang Luther Vandross’ “Here and Now,” as Egypt was escorted down the aisle. “It was great because he did it in Q’s version,” Egypt explained. “You know, not too many people can sing a Luther song.”

“She brought me closer to God,” Mike says of his new bride. “She just makes me stronger with that feeling. It’s easier for me to speak about the spirit now.”

“He was loving me unconditionally, with his entire being,” Egypt tells ESSENCE.com, of why she fell for Mike. “It made me want to learn how to do that.”

After being pronounced husband and wife, Mike says he was ecstatic. “If you could name every word in the dictionary that means happy and joy, that’s what I was feeling,” the new hubby said.
