Gullah native Leroy Campbell is bringing his history to life with his newest art exhibit, "Historical Backbone: The Resilience and Determination of a People." The artist's latest exhibition, on display in Harlem, explores the meshing of African and American traditions through family, relationships, religion, politics and education between the 1830s and 1950s. "This body of work is a time capsule revealing the blueprint for unity," Campbell said in a press release. "At my core, though, I believe the foundation still exists and it is preserved within my body of work."
