In November 2005, Mrs. Nixon Cooper was honored to receive a visit from Atlanta mayor Shirley Franklin. Franklin is the first Black woman elected mayor of Atlanta.

The late Dr.Charles Goosby was a prominent dentist who broke numerous barriers in the field of dentistry for African-Americans. Goosby celebrated with Mrs. Nixon Cooper at a Kappa Boule Christmas party a few years ago.

Mrs. Nixon Cooper helped found the Girls’ Club for African-American Youth in Atlanta. She raised four children but also taught literacy in the 1970’s at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, the same church where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., once preached.
