“Everyone has a purpose,” she says, “and you have to learn to receive. It took me a while to realize this, but it’s easy to forget if you’re always doing for others.”
Although it wasn’t always easy, Blackamore realized after ten years of nursing [in oncology] that her work was, in fact, too depressing. So she went to cosmetology school at night while working as a nurse and caring for her two small children and husband.

Blackamore has been running a spa out of her home for several years, clearing up skin, and making women happy on a daily basis.

In the 2000s
On her hair: “I started graying when I was 19, which is also when I started coloring. When I hit 50, I said, ‘Enough!’ I’ve learned to embrace it [my hair color]. I’m not running from it anymore.”
