A teen couple from Chicago is breaking the Internet with their epic "promposal" footage that included a little help from two of our 2018 ESSENCE Festival performers.
The "promposal" (aka prom proposal) trend, which involves students going to extravagant lengths to ask a potential date to the prom, has been sweeping the nation over the past few years. Getting in on the viral phenomenon, Kenwood Academy student Nacalan pulled out all the stops to create an unforgettable moment for his girlfriend, Erin, on Valentine's Day, with a little help from the Kenwood Academy choir.
In a video clip shared by Nacalan that has since gone viral, an unsuspecting Erin is immediately moved to tears when she walks into the school's choir room, just as the choir begins serenading her to the tune of Grammy-nominated singer Daniel Caesar's single "Best Part," which also features breakout R&B songstress, H.E.R. Towards the end of the video, Nacalan emerges from the crowd to seal the deal with flowers, a balloon and a gift.
Just as the nearly 2-minute clip comes to an end, the teen is seen telling his classmates, "She said yes!" *Cue. Tears.*
Be sure to grab your tickets to see performances from Daniel Caesar and H.E.R. at the 2018 ESSENCE Festival in New Orleans this July. If we're lucky, maybe they'll even perform this song together....
