Each year, McDonald’s Community Choice Youth Award is given to an admirable young person who is deeply committed to uplifting their community.

This year, the winner was 16-year-old philanthropist, entrepreneur, author, actress and motivational speaker Tori Turner.

Inspired by the need in her community, Turner founded the D.R.E.A.M BIG Foundation at just 12 years old. Her mission? To support the dreams of youth in her native Louisiana. In 2011, the impressive teen gave away over $11,000 in scholarships to deserving youth within the region.

Turner’s philanthropic efforts don’t end there. In 2012, when she won the Miss Black Louisiana USA Talented Teen, Turner earned the service award for completing the most community service within her city.

With a mission to “D.R.E.A.M. BIG” and believe in God in everything that she does, it’s safe to say that Turner will continue to go far with her commendable efforts to uplift her community.

See Tori accept her award at McDonald’s 2015 365Black Awards on Sunday, August 23rd at 9 pm EST on BET. Join the conversation using @365Black and #365BlackAwards.
