#MM: Album Review – Jazmine Sullivan’s ‘Reality Show’
RCA Records

It’s Music Monday and we had a chance to check out #EssenceFest alum, Jazmine Sullivan’s new album!

After a four-year hiatus, Jazmine Sullivan is back with her highly-anticipated third album. Reality Show is filled with the relatable themes of love, betrayal, hope, and redemption that we have come to expect from Sullivan. Delivered in her signature husky tone, her new material offers a level of consciousness that is rarely found in today’s R&B artists.

In an age where many R&B songs sound the same, Jazmine delivers a refreshing body of work that incorporates the artful element of storytelling that seems to have all but died in the ‘90’s. With production reminiscent of the old school R&B that we all know and love, ‘Reality Show’ manages to straddle the fine line of being nostalgic while still being current which oddly makes it a bit ahead of its time.

Standout tracks include: If You Dare, Stupid Girl, Forever Don’t Last, Mascara, and Let It Burn.

Reality Show is available for presale on iTunes now and will be available in stores and online January 13, 2014.
