ESSENCE Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, Vanessa De Luca, is just as excited as you are to enjoy the day and night time events at ESSENCE FEST 2015. This year, the annual New Orleans weekend long event will not only have great performances, but also focus on discussing the issues that are critical to black lives.

The ESSENCE Festival staff selected the most powerful minds of 2015 to discuss social injustice, black humanity in America and how to move forward in light of the latest tragedies to rock our communities. One of the moderators of our #BlackLivesMatter panel is renowned journalist and host, Ed Gordon.

In preparation for the panel and the entire weekend, he caught up with our EIC. Listen to the full interview, below.
