Anika and Sydney Poitier, daughters of Hollywood legend Sidney Poitier, take pride in following in their famous father’s footsteps. Sydney, an actress, delights in telling people’s stories. “To be able to make someone else feel inspired because of a story I told is the ultimate goal,” she says. Anika, a director, loves to “mull over a script and figure out how to tell the visual story.” Their passion for family, fashion and success caught the attention of the Salvatore Ferragamo brand, which is spot-lighting the duo as part of its Fiamma launch, a collection named after the late designer’s daughter. The sister were grateful for the opportunity, and reflected on their style icons: their grandmother and mother. “My grandmother’s style was pure bombshell. She always wore a pencil skirt, a fitted sweater and stilettos,” says Anika. “My mother is the reason for my love of all things beautiful and my appreciation of great craftsmanship and tailoring,” adds Sydney. “Fashion is just one way we express ourselves.” Their dress-for-success advice: Express yourself authentically and confidence will shine through.
