It’s not far fetched for Rihanna to grace the red carpet and introduce a new trend that was not on anyone’s radar. From turning her denim skirt into a shirt to sporting a sheer dress over jeans, RiRi has cultivated outfits that only she can pull off – and we try to imitate.
Yesterday, Rihanna took home the “Urban Luxe” prize for her label Fenty at The Fashion Awards, but before the awards could even start, the internet was swooning over her baby blue monochromatic ensemble. Wearing Fenty head-to-toe, the “Kiss It Better” singer sported a bustier dress with a tulle cover-up. She accessorized her look with satin heels, a diamond choker, and sheer gloves.
While 2020 fashion trends seen on the Spring/Summer runways included sunset colors, knitwear, and trenchcoats, what we didn’t hear much chatter about was gloves. A few Fall/Winter runway shows definitely teased the trend however.
Richard Quinn sent models down the runway using gloves as a standout accessory. The brand’s buzzy floral turtleneck with attached gloves were worn by Cardi B, Beyonce, and Billie Porter. Vetements also featured the built-in glove trend ,while Gucci created tulle sets that include the popular monogrammed “GG” and fun strawberry patches.
This is not the first time Riri has worn a glove to accessorize her fit; in 2014 she sported the standout piece with her popular Swarovski dress. Fashion is all about the drama and leave it up to the bad gyal to go all out. Shop these gloves below.
