Besides Lil Nas X dominating the Billboard charts, (“Old Town Road” has spent 11 weeks at number 1) his style just like the music, is equally captivating. From the cowboy boots to his iced out grill, the superstar has managed to rock a modern day western look every time he pops out. This past Sunday at the BET Awards Lil Nas X tapped Pyer Moss to make a custom baby blue suit with floral and plaid accents. “Lil Nas X is different and special. And for BET and his real first red carpet, it was very important for us to use a black designer and somebody that reflects Lil Nas X groundbreaking spirit,” said his stylist Hodo Musa.

Kerby Jean-Raymond who is the creator of Pyer Moss and the latest winner of the CDFA/Vogue Fashion Fund is no stranger to making statements with his work. Whether it’s directly addressing that “Black Drag Queens Invented Camp” by putting it on the back of Lena Waithe’s suit at the Met Gala or choosing all black models for his fashion campaigns, Raymond is truly “for the people.”

Shoutout Lil Nas X for rocking a black designer at the BET Awards, check out photos of him on the red carpet below.
