Mara Hoffman
Mexican influences were overwhelmingly evident in Mara Hoffman’s Spring 2012 collection, with multicolored Aztec prints playing on jumpsuits, lithe jersey dresses, and maxi frocks. Patterns mixing red, orange, blue, purple, celery, and navy were the background for layered, beaded jewelry and dramatically bold earrings. Whispy asymmetrical tops were paired with hot pink shorts; delightfully sheer dresses stood atop high-wedged heels. While the clothes were undoubtedly drool worthy, the most outstanding part of the collection might have to have been the model’s braided updos, which were crimped, piled high, and weaved with ribbons. Tell us, ladies, would you try that look?
Luca Luca
Prim and pretty belted polka dot frocks mixed with bold colored pants suits for Luca Luca’s Spring 2012 collection. Fuchsia, periwinkle, celery, powder blue, turquoise, and cerulean merged in color-blocked formation to offer the surprisingly tailored collection a girly aura. Racy deep v-necks and shoulder cut outs, along with black lace and sheer details are perfect for the chic socialite looking to add a dash of sass to her wardrobe. And the collection’s ubiquitous multicolored turbans could find a home in the wardrobe of divas like Solange Knowles, who sat perched front row.
Nicole Miller
With checkerboard trimmed dresses, messenger bags, and neon darted close fit leggings, it was clear Nicole Miller looked to the velocity of bikers to inspire her latest collection. In addition to speed, Miller leaned heavily on color, proposing psychedelic swirls of turquoise, watermelon, and chartreuse, along with pops of pastel yellow on chic clutches. Sporty neoprene jackets played second fiddle to blue and purple close fit dresses; punchy menswear inspired ties accented two-toned silk blouses. There was a lot to love, namely a checker printed pencil dress worn with an orange and turquoise messenger bag.
