NYFW Spring 2012: Makeup Moments

NYFW Spring 2012: Makeup Moment
By · September 9, 2011October 28, 2020
01
Ralph Lauren

The makeup was perfect for this Great Gatsby-esque collection (Lauren designed the costumes for the 70’s movie version). With pale cream shadow, flushed cheeks and a petal pink lip, the models would’ve looked picture-perfect at a gin-drenched 1920s garden party.

02
Michael Kors

At the Kors show, models like Jourdan Dunn hit the runway with wry smiles (so refreshing!) and cheekbones and lids dusted with sheer, shimmery bronzer — which looked naturally stunning on the Black girls. The lips were sweet, too — pale and slightly metallic, they gave a sexy-without-trying-too-hard effect.

Betsy Johnson

Always fanciful and chock full of kooky-cool whimsy, Ms. Johnson took her collection a step further by painting models’ lips in uber-bright, candy pink gloss. Of course, the hot hue looked especially fab on the Black models.

04
Donna Karan

At Donna Karan, models hit the runway in runway in deep burgundy lips that perfectly accentuated the collection’s hues. And get into those major brows!

05
Tracy Reese

Reese’s show is always a must-see, but this year the makeup was just as stunning as her soft, feminine collection. The look — strong brows, bright cheeks and sweet, slightly metallic lips — is one of spring 2012’s prettiest.

Prabal Gurung

At Prabal Gurung, models like Jourdan Dunn blazed down the catwalk in metallic pewter eyeshadow and a riotously bold violet lip.

Richard Chai Love

Chai sent his models down the catwalk in either lips or eyes that matched his bold, vibrantly-colored collection. We’re head over heels for this bright purple lip!

08
Rebecca Taylor

The eyes at Rebecca Taylor were as bold and bright as her prints — models’ lids were painted yellow, blue and green. Crayola colorful!

09
Jason Wu

At Jason Wu, models like Joan Smalls stormed the catwalk in an brighter-than-bright, electric orange/red lip. The pop of color was so brilliant against the severe hair!

Luca Luca

Designer Luca Orlandi was all about a bold statement lip (flawless fucshia) and strong brows — which shaped up to be Fashion Week’s signature makeup moment.
