01
Mimi Plange

This look was the wild card of the collection. An intense hot-pink floor-length skirt with a black-and-white ruffled blouse — what’s not to love?

02
J.Crew

J.Crew captured all of the important trends of Fall ‘12 — bright optimistic colors, strong accessories, and pattern mixing. What we love most is that these looks are wearable and affordable. That’s a winning combo.

Mimi Plange

This Mimi Plange look was so simple yet so stunning. It was a fresh take on the basic shift dress, with details to die for — gathers and wide arm holes that made this clean, crisp shade of ecru stand out.

04
Naeem Khan

This was the most intricate collection we’ve seen throughout NYFW. This strapless dress was a stunning, sexy evening look with strategically placed mirrors throughout. His bead work and mosaic details on the garments are what separate Khan from other designers.

Barbara Tfank

This collection was exquisite, from wigs to shoes. Classic, polished 1950s-style dresses that had First Lady written all over them. This metallic sea foam shift dress and fur was an opulent look both mother and daughter could wear.

06
Rachel Roy

Rachel Roy injected lively jewel tones — emeralds and sapphires — into her collection this season, and used textures like chunky knits, tweed, and leather accents to take it to the next level. This leather skirt was a favorite; it spiced up the overall look.

07
Tracy Reese

The strengths were in the coats this season for Tracy Reese, and this bright yellow wool trench coat with fur collar stole the show. It’s just as important for a lady to look great outside as she does inside, and this coat certainly does the trick.

Tracy Reese

This orange shearling toggle coat is just another example of the designer’s amazingly vibrant outerwear, and it also shows just how the Tracy Reese girl will transition her spring brights into autumn hues.

Tracy Reese

The flirty party dress is Reese’s forté, and this purple lamé number is a prime example of her talent — a clean-cut style with fabric that pops. Lovely.

Nicole Miller

Tire of ‘70s style? Never! It’s the decade du jour when it comes to fashion and Nicole Miller pulled out all the stops with leather patchwork, fringe and florals. Her best look of all: a mixed-print, billowy-sleeved dress topped with wide-brimmed floppy hat. Dig it!

Jason Wu

“Bad to the bone” is the best way to describe this look. Wu’s commander-in-chic military vest, complete with feathers, leather and lace (check out the detailed collar and shoulders), is a look not to be messed with. This is a total Rihanna moment.

Hervé Léger

It was bandage meets bondage at Hervé Léger. The infamous bandage dress got wrapped up in leather buckled harnesses. The silhouette itself took a turn from bodycon to A-line pleats, and the fiercest of them all was this look — pure fringe fabulousness.

Mara Hoffman

Mara Hoffman perfects prints almost every season, and this indigenous-style gown was it. Bold and beautiful.

Cushnie et Ochs

One dream item for every woman is a Cushnie et Ochs dress. The sexy fit and peek-a-boo cut-outs work every time. This one comes in vivid cobalt blue — a head-turning shade that we’ll see through this season.

15
Rebecca Taylor

Rebecca Taylor is known for perfecting pretty, but this look transformed that pretty girl into a pretty woman. With this dress, Taylor inserted thigh-high splits with sheer pleat panels that added a daring touch to a demure piece.

NAHM

Tommy Hilfiger must be very proud of daughter Ally and partner Nary Manivong. Their collection NAHM (the couple’s initials) was a polished presentation. It was all about pastels with pops of brights (check out this wide-legged lime pant). These are lively colors you don’t see too often in the winter.

17
William Okpo

Another must-have piece this season is a bold bright suit. William Okpo, one of the most vibrant and exciting collections thus far, wasn’t afraid to push the envelope in these looks and every other that came down the runway. The bold colors and patterns gave the runway a much-needed jolt of energy.

18
Tadashi Shoji

Shoji references the 1920s with this drop-waist lace dress, but modernizes it by using a beautiful, bright cobalt blue. Many of his pieces had classic components — lace, velvet and ruffles — but presented in rich vibrant colors, they were anything but traditional.

Tadashi Shoji

Tadashi Shoji was by far the most romantic show to kick off the season, and one thing was clear — lace is here to stay! Shoji is a master at designing gowns, and this ruffled lace look was fresh in both color and silhouette but included vintage touches that made it warm and nostalgic.

Ruffian

This look isn’t re-inventing the wheel, in fact it’s pretty basic which is what we love about it. The pussybow blouse and leather skirt is an every day look almost any girl can rock and look great in.

BCBGMAXAZRIA

BCBGMAXAZRIA worked colorblocking to perfection, using solid fabrics, patchwork leather and fur to get the trend across. This fluid silk stunner is a simple silhouette but comes to life with a vibrant color combo — a consistent theme throughout the collection.
