The first day of New York Fashion Week has wrapped, and key trends are already beginning to emerge. The looks going down the runway at the dozens of shows which have already taken place will inspire what you will be wearing come fall of this year…
At the top of that list will be leather. From fashionista favorite Zac Posen to the edgy label Wayne, designers used leather not just in jackets but in shorts, skirts and even tops for the fall. If you find that too confining, there will be other options: long, loose, flowing skirts and trousers.
This trend, which was seen all over runways last season, continues into winter months as designer lablels like BCBG and Richard Chai show willowy skirts and trousers in weighty fabrics perfect for fall. The fabrics may be heavy, but the colors weren’t. Besides basic black — which nearly every designer debuted yesterday — there was a surprising use of color and floral prints as seen on the runways of Wes Gordon and Vena Cava.
Tune in tomorrow to see what trends are revealed on day two of New York Fashion Week.
