Actually, This Was The Coolest Detail From Hood By Air's NYFW Show

No, it isn't the PornHub partnership.
Actually, This Was The Coolest Detail From Hood By Air’s NYFW Show

Hood By Air consistently flips the script for NYFW. This season, the edgy designer label partnered with PornHub (yes, really) for its 2017 spring/summer collection, which features the PH logo on several pieces and employs the word “wench” as an overlying theme. And that’s not even the coolest part of the standout line.

The mostly monochromatic pieces were accompanied by equally headturning beauty looks, complete with globs of Vaseline on the model’s faces. I was also happy to see each table stocked with base makeup for a wide spectrum of shades:

“Miss Messy” is how the backstage team described each respective piece and after a glance over their hands, it all made perfect sense.

HBA’s lead nail stylist dished all the deets on the half French mani being painted on model fingers. Besides the fact that HBA is making chipped polish cool, it was also refreshing to learn about a brand I was unfamiliar with: Duri.

“I would describe it as an eco-friendly brand that is usually sold mainly to professionals,” she told me. “It’s been around my entire life; it was born in 1989. It was something I normally would only see in salons. Now, they’re actually making it more public.”

It’s also worth noting that the collection used for HBA’s show is 5-free, meaning it’s eco-conscious and won’t weaken your nail beds.

“It’s called Durilaq and it’s a gel polish. So, you don’t have to cure it. When you cure your nails, that means you don’t have to put it under the UV light.”

So, where exactly can you find it before everyone else?

“They’re selling it online; you can buy it in Bed, Bath & Beyond.” That’s right; pick up your pillows and polish at the same time. This is the last place I expected her to name-drop, but I’m glad she did. As we all know, Bed, Bath & Beyond is pretty affordable and accessible for all. I also spotted some Duri polishes on Walmart’s website. The brand’s most popular item appears to be Rejuvicote, a base coat formulated with calcium and keratin to stimulate growth.
