JASON WUSeptember 11, 2010 New York – What would Michelle wear? From day one, Mrs. Obama has been a passionate supporter of Jason Wu, repeatedly wearing his clothes and skyrocketing the young designers career along the way. This season he has once again proved why ladies, from the White House to our house adore his pieces: they are elegant, easy and absolultey exquisite. In what may very well be his best collection yet, Wu trotted out a lush line up of sheer blouses, tweed jackets and ornate gowns that will make you gasp with pleasure. Beyond innovative design and flawless execution, what was remarkable about every item in his 37 piece collection was how wearable they are. These are clothes remarkable enough to be celebrated on a runway, but functional enough to fit in your wardrobe. So to answer our question, what would Michelle wear? Everything BCBGSeptember 11, 2010 New York – The BCBG woman is on a perpetual vacation. Her journey continued this season with a collection full of dresses more fit for cocktail hour at on an island resort than afterwork drinks with your co-workers. Max Azria worked his magic again showing us billowy, mini0dresses in khakis and mustards with splashes of salmon pink. A pocket here, a layer there and deep v-necks everwhere broke the monotony and elevated the entire Spring 2011 collection into one worthy of your wardrobe – exclusive island vacay or not.
NICOLE MILLERSeptember 11, 2010 New York – To understand the many tribes of women who connect to the brand and designer that is Nicole Miller, you must first take a look at the front row of her latest show. Every one from Robin Givhan, Pulitzer prize winning Fashion Editor of the Washington Post to Vogue Fashion Editor, Virginia Smith to Donna Hanover (former wife of politician Rudy Giuliani) to Cassie (alleged girlfriend of Sean “Diddy” Combs) was in attendance. They were all there to see a designer who has become an icon for chic, contemporary pieces with edge. For her Spring/Summer 2011 collection, she did not disappoint. From floor sweeping maxi dresses to loose oxford-style shirts and asymmetrical vests, she showed a clean, modern and refreshing collection that paid homage to this seasons main trend: sheer fabrics. Every look in her thirty-six piece collection incorporated – or was made entirely of – sheer materials, adding an even more ethereal dimension to a collection that can be summed up in one word: heavenly.
