Black & White Trend

B&W Trend by Alexandra Phanor-Faury Never underestimate the power of a classic. For decades, black and white have made a harmonious chic team when it comes to evening dressing. And the reason? It works. On their own, black and white are colors most women look good in, so it’s no surprise that the simplicity and unfussiness of these hues make them two of the most popular colors on store racks. But that doesn’t have to mean looking like everyone else. Women who usually turn to color and prints to stand out are taking note of the style potential of this elegant combo. The spring 2010 collections hinted to a resurgence of black and white. Yves Saint Laurent, Givenchy and Giambattista Valli all showed the color scheme in a number of interpretations from elegant to modern. Whether it’s color blocking, prints, polka dots or stripes, there are endless ways to let loose and be creative with this seemingly dull palette. Remember, if you’re scaling back on color, take the time to experiment with textures and use your accessories to add a jolt of bright color to your ensemble. We’ve pulled together some of our favorite starlets that have mastered the black and white trend to help you incorporate this look into your wardrobe.
