Another fashion week season has come to a close and the industry can finally say they made it through the week. Monday was the second day of fine jewelry brand Don’t Let Disco’s NYFW debut, bringing another Black-owned accessory brand to the spotlight. While it was the calmest day of the week schedule-wise, and the bustle of another fashion week in the city slowed, there was still much street style to admire.
Staple outfits included tailored suits with dimensional layers, animal print zip up puffers, and statement coats trimmed in fringe. Multicolored loafers, hats, and clutches elevated otherwise neutral color palettes, and there were some fun headpieces in the mix too. One fashion-forward attendee channeled the elegance of a black swan in an all black ensemble with feathered accents along the bodice and a sculptural feathered headpiece to match.
Miss Universe Haiti’s Melissa Sapini even graced the streets with her presence, as she was dressed in a calm button up, trousers, and a large fur. She gave off an effortlessly chic and on-the-go look. Another noteworthy look came from a woman in an eye-catching black and white striped sequin jumpsuit, coordinating fur coat, and Vivienne Westwood choker. As far as Black-owned luxury, we spotted an asymmetric Christopher John Rogers dress, lined with rainbow grommets and styled under a maroon coat.
