ASOS Features Plus Size Black Model In Bikini And We Are So Here For It!

ASOS Features Plus Size Black Model Vivian Eyo-Ephraim In Bikini
By Crystal Tate · Updated October 24, 2020

Every single fashion brand can learn a thing or two from ASOS. They have mastered offering stylish clothing at affordable prices while also being diverse and inclusive.

Recently ASOS announced that they started shooting clothing on different sized models with various body shapes and now they are getting more praise for featuring a Black plus size model in a bikini on their site!

First, let’s admit that it shouldn’t be surprising or unheard of to see a plus size or Black woman in a bikini in an ad. But considering we rarely see plus size women featured and especially Black plus size women, this is definitely a big deal and a step in the right direction —that hopefully sets an example.

Man of the Matchh @asos X @bridgemodels 👊🏾💛 Thank you ALLLL so much for the messages, the likes, the comments, the retweets, everything!!! I’m truly appreciative, shocked, excited & cannot wait to represent more women & make everyone even more proud❤️ #CELEBRATEMYSIZE

London-based Nigerian model Vivian Eyo-Ephraim is the woman featured in the yellow bikini on ASOS’ site. Eyo-Ephraim looks absolutely gorgeous in the photos, and it’s one of the most beautiful, body-positive and representative ads we’ve seen.

On her Instagram, Eyo-Ephraim said, “I’m truly appreciative, shocked, excited & cannot wait to represent more women & make everyone even more proud.”

In an interview with Metro, Eyo-Ephraim shared, “The world is a very diverse place and it’s important that consumers see brands representing and recognizing all ethnicities, shapes and sizes, we want to see ourselves represented and celebrated and recognized.”

She continued, “The modeling world is still so new to me, to see the amazing support and response from a job I did is just incredible, I couldn’t be more grateful to ASOS and Bridge for taking a chance on me and allowing me to show the world that everybody is beautiful, no matter what their shape, size or ethnicity.”

Eyo-Ephraim is represented by Bridge Models and was recently signed on as a model after entering a model search competition last year.
