The 81st Annual Academy Awards were held last night at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, and Black Hollywood’s elite were on hand for the festivities.

Best Supporting Actress nominee Viola Davis was not a winner last night, but she was no doubt a golden beauty on the red carpet wearing a Reem Arca gown and Fred Leighton jewels.

Show Me the Oscar

Cuba Gooding, Jr., and wife Sara make their way inside the theater. Gooding, a past Best Supporting Actor winner in 1997 for “Jerry Maguire,” helped present this year’s award to Heath Ledger, who won posthumously for his role as the Joker in “The Dark Knight.”

In a bit of fun, Gooding joked that nominee Robert Downey, Jr., (who was nominated for his role in the comedy “Tropic Thunder,” where he stars as a White actor portraying an African-American solider—in blackface) should leave the Black roles to the brothers “as we have a hard enough time getting roles.”
