Fifteen years after the release of Usher’s Confessions, R&B fans are rejoicing at the possibility of a follow-up to the classic. The “Let It Burn” singer hinted at a part two to the 21-track album, released in 2004, on Instagram where he posted a picture of himself in the studio beside a white board with the words “Confessions 2” at the top.
The rest of the text on the white board was blurred out, but it appeared as though it might have been a list of tracks. He wrote a brief, but provocative message in the caption simply writing: ‘Dis what yall want…,’ clearly teasing his fans. The obvious hints weren’t the only ones that his 8.2 million followers spotted. There was also a large cardboard cutout of the So So Def logo in the back of the frame. Usher has revealed throughout the years that many of themes that caused Confessions to go triple platinum were inspired by So So Def founder and producer Jermaine Dupri. This includes the loaded title track where a man confesses to getting his fling pregnant. Social media erupted with excitement at the chance that real R&B might be returning.
