Talk of an SWV biopic has been swirling for years, particularly since the group did a WE TV reality show in 2013.
While Cheryl “Coko” Gamble, Leanne “LeLee” Lyons and Tamera “Taj” Johnson-George are still making music, their story of becoming one of the most regarded R&B groups has yet to be told on screen. But fans might not have to wait much longer.
“We’re actually in talks [for] a SWV biopic, so stay tuned,” Coko told HipHop DX in a recent interview. “There’s so much that people don’t know.”
“Everyone’s interested,” LeLee added.
Their highest selling album was 1992’s “It’s About Time” that featured “Weak”, “Right Here” and “I’m So Into You.” In addition to their songs being sampled by Michael Jackson and Pharrell Williams, they’ve also been nominated for two Grammys.
No word on what channel the biopic will be on, but we can’t wait to tune in.
