With a time of 2:23.30, Ethiopia’s Worknesh Degefa won her first Boston Marathon on Monday. In the race that was marred by rain and clouds, the 29-year-old managed to break away from the pack of runners early on, which sealed her win.

Last year’s winner, Edna Kiplegat of Kenya came in 44 seconds behind Degefa. And the U.S. runner, Jordan Hasay finished third in 2:25:21.
