Lifetime has greenlit two new movies, one of which is a contemporary spin on Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. The network has ordered Pride and Prejudice: Atlanta, a new film written by Tracy McMillan and directed by Rhonda Baraka.
Deadline reports that Reginald VelJohnson has signed on as Reverend Bennet, with Jackée Harry as his wife Mrs. Bennet. Their five daughters will be played by Reginae Carter, Tiffany Hines, Alexia Bailey, Raney Branch, and Brittney Level. Will Darcy will be played by Juan Antonio. The cast also includes Keshia Knight Pulliam. The film is set to debut in 2019.
