Recovering from all of the holiday events and New Year’s parties that closed out 2019 requires a few things: comfy clothes, a couch, fuzzy blanket and something good to watch. That’s where Netflix comes in.
The beloved streaming service is kicking off the year with a few cool new titles coming this January, including an iconic throwback and a new film from Tyler Perry.
The below titles are just the tip of the iceberg, but here’s what we’ll be watching at the top of the year.

The Original Kings of Comedy – Jan. 1
Netflix is delivering the ultimate throwback with The Original Kings of Comedy. The 2000 standup film directed by Spike Lee features the late Bernie Mac, Cedric the Entertainer, Steve Harvey, and D.L. Hughley delivering memorable performances at the Charlotte Coliseum.

The Circle – Jan. 1
Described as a “social experiment,” The Circle is a reality competition that merges social media, catfishing, status, and strategy in a game that sees players using online personas to win $100,000.

Sex, Explained: Limited Series – Jan. 2
Janelle Monáe narrates this limited series that explores all things sex, from fertility and attraction to fantasies and childbirth. This enlightening series also tackles some of the mysteries and miracles of sex.

AJ and the Queen – Jan. 10
This new series stars RuPaul as a down-on-her-luck drag queen who embarks upon a cross-country tour and finds a 10-year-old stowaway who becomes family.

Sex Education: Season Two – Jan. 17
Season two of this Netflix hit kicks off with a Chlamydia outbreak, new students heading to Moordale Secondary to shake things up, and the never-ending drama that comes with being a teen. And, of course, there will be tons of sex education along the way.

Hip-Hop Evolution: Season Four – Jan. 17
Season four of Hip-Hop Evolution continues to showcase the stories and artists that shaped the genre, featuring interviews with artists like Master P, Lil Jon, and more.

Tyler Perry’s A Fall From Grace – Jan. 17
After her life falls apart, Grace finds love with a handsome stranger but not everything’s what it seems. Tyler Perry’s first film with Netflix, A Fall From Grace stars Crystal Fox, Phylicia Rashad, Cicely Tyson, Bresha Webb, and Mehcad Brooks. It looks good!
