It looks like those rumors that Nene Leakes is being reprimanded for ClosetGate on last season’s Real Housewives of Atlanta just aren’t true.
Fans may remember when Leakes ripped off a cameraman’s shirt during a March episode, trying to prevent them from filming in her closet on the hit Bravo series. Porsha Williams, who was pregnant at the time, later revealed during the RHOA season 11 reunion that another person from production’s tooth was chipped during the altercation, and her belt was torn off.
Rumors began circulating earlier this summer that because of the altercation, Leakes had to sit out the first half of the season, but the reality star said that’s simply not true.
“I have never been suspended and I am on season 12. Thank you very much. So stop reading the blogs,” she told D.C. radio personality Vic Jagger earlier this week.
“We read a lot of stuff and we start laughing,” Leakes continued of the rumors.
Still, Leakes said the reason for her bad behavior is that she was dealing with a lot—namely, being the sole caretaker for her husband, Gregg, who was battling cancer.
The boutique owner called last season one of the “most difficult seasons.”
“It’s very, very hard to be a caretaker,” she told People last November. “People call and they say, ‘How’s Gregg doing?’ and I want to throw the phone and say, ‘How the f–k am I doing? I’m going crazy over here; Gregg is wearing me out!’ I am not good at this s–t!”
Leakes even considered divorcing her husband after she revealed how “mean” Gregg had been during treatment. Thankfully, the two appeared to be on good terms this past May with the Leakes family celebrating the fact that he’s now cancer-free.
