The funny woman behind Awesomely Luvvie has nothing but kind words about meeting her TV hero.
Luvvie Ajayi’s blog Awesomely Luvvie, is one of the funniest sites on the internet. And, while she’s been able to accomplish a number of goals, including writing a New York Times best-seller, I'm Judging You: The Do-Better Manual, nothing compares to meeting her television hero and Scandal creator Shonda Rhimes.
Luvvie, who first heard abut Rhimes and Scandal at an ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood event she’d crashed, eventually caught the showrunners attention with her hilarious recaps of the Kerry Washington-led show.
“One day I was on Twitter while I was watching a re-run,’’ she said, ''and Shonda tweeted, " ‘It’s a great time to be on Twitter, right now, because you get to see Luvvie’s Scandal tweets’. Child, I could have passed out on the spot.”
Eventually, Luvvie would get the chance to meet Rhimes, this time with an invitation to ESSENCE’s Black Women In Hollywood. She recalled posing with the showrunner, who denied everyone but her a photo. Rhimes also gushed that the writer was one of her favorite people to follow on Twitter.
Luvvie added, “She’s so gracious and one of the things I love about her is her commitment to ensuring that black women are in the room that she’s in.”
