Congratulations are in order for our fave Lizzo!
The singer has landed her first top 10 hit on Billboard’s Hot 100 with “Truth Hurts.”
Essence‘s June digital cover star released her third album, Cuz I Luv You, earlier this year, marking her major label debut.
And according to Lizzo, she’s just getting started.
“I’ve been doing the same work but just on different platforms,” she told ESSENCE. “It just elevates. There’s so much I wanna do. I feel like I’ve only scratched the surface of making it or being it. It, for me, is a long journey.”
Over the week, “Truth Hurts” has leapt from No. 11 to No. 6 on the Hot 100 chart.
It’s no surprise that the song has landed in the Hot 100. “Truth Hurts is an anthemic breakup track that hears Lizzo sing, “I just took a DNA test, turns out I’m 100% that bitch,” as she bounces back from the end of a failed relationship.
The singer’s album has certainly dominated our playlist since it’s release, so we wouldn’t be surprised if she has another top 10 hit on the way.
