Lil Kim is set to receive a major honor.
The rapper will be recognized at the BET Hip Hop Awards with the I Am Hip Hop Award.
Kim has long been a pioneer in music, paving the way for many female rapper’s today. She’s received a number of Grammy nominations, winning Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals in 2002 for “Lady Marmalade.” Her albums Hard Core, The Notorious K.I.M. and La Bella Mafia have gone platinum. On countless lists, she’s been named as one of the greatest hip-hop artists of all time.
The announcement comes as Kim gears up to release a new project.
Her fifth studio album, 9, is set to be released this fall and the rapper recently teamed up with City Girls and OT Genasis for new single “Found You.”
The BET Hip Hop awards will premiere on October 8.
