In the wake of Michael Brown and Eric Garner’s deaths, and lack of indictments, the song is a fitting tribute to the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the many who marched for voting rights that fateful month in 1965.
“50 years since Selma. Still marching,” tweeted Legend earlier today.
Selma chronicles the voting rights marches of 1965. It opens in theaters on Christmas Day.
