Praise be! Gospel singer/songwriter James Fortune is on his way to making history, as he’s currently tied with Kirk Franklin for the highest number of gospel airplay #1’s ever. His song, “Nobody Like Jesus,” featuring Lisa Knowles Smith, has become his 7th chart-topper. This is Knowles Smith’s first #1.
This particular Billboard chart began in 2005.
Fortune is the man behind FIYA, a gospel group he regularly writes for and records with. His most recent releases, Dream Again and Dream Again (Live), were solo efforts, shared in 2019 and 2020, respectively.
“I am in awe of God and humbled that He continues to choose me,” Fortune told Billboard on November 4. “I am thankful for God’s favor on my life and I don’t take any of it for granted. It’s simple for me: I am on an assignment to tell the world about a man who knows all your flaws, but still loves you, will use you and has plans for you, in spite of it all. That’s reason enough to dream again.”
