“So I went to the police and they don’t know anything and they’re not trying to know anything” says grief-stricken mom Lila (Viola Davis) in a clip from the upcoming film Lila & Eve. The film, co-starring Jennifer Lopez as Eve, is about two women of color seeking revenge for their slain children. Directed by Charles Stone III (Drumline), Lila & Eve brings the jarring emotional realities of injustice to life.
“You want the ones responsible,” Eve tells Lila during a therapy session for mothers. “You want them to know how it feels.” The touching clip shows Lopez and Davis filled with resentment, anger and most of all, a mother’s pain.
Lila & Eve opens in theaters, and will be available on VOD, on July 17.
