Bobby Brown’s Sister Is Not Happy With The Way His BET Biopic Portrayed Whitney Houston

It seems like BET scored another hit with its recent two-part miniseries, The Bobby Brown Story. The biopic dominated social media over the course of its two-night premiere, with many giving the network props for giving viewers an entertaining original film. While fans loved reliving the drama of Bobby Brown’s life, not everyone was happy about how things unfolded on screen. Brown’s older sister, Leolah Brown Muhammad, took to social media to air her grievances about the portrayal of her brother’s life, namely his relationship with his wife, Alicia Etheredge-Brown. “THE FAKEST MOVIE I EVER SEEN! THAT IS NOT ALICIA,” Brown Muhammad wrote on Facebook. In The Bobby Brown Story, Bobby and Alicia’s love story dominates the second half of the film (both are producers on the project) and she is depicted as one of the driving forces that inspires the singer to overcome his demons and forge a new, drug-free path. On screen, Alicia not only loves Bobby fiercely, but she welcomes his entire family into her life as well. But according to Bobby’s sister, that’s not actually how things went down. “Why did you let Alicia lie like that in that movie and say she welcomed your whole family into her life!!!???” Brown Muhammad wrote. According to Bobby’s sister, his wife not only hates “every single person that carries” his blood, but she also prevented Bobby from helping his ailing mother in her time of need. Brown Muhammad said she refuses to stay silent about it anymore. “Hell no I’m not shutting up,” she said. “You know this b***h turns her nose up at any and every damn body that damn knows you family first.” She added, “Bobby why are you all lying for her!??? She’s evil! You are sleeping with the devil!” In addition to the portrayal of her sister-in-law, Alicia, Brown Muhammad also wasn’t feeling the way Whitney Houston was depicted in The Bobby Brown Story either. “I do understand my brother wanting to tell his story. But my thing is, why lie or allow THEM to lie and make Whitney look so bad,” Brown Muhammad wrote to a commenter on her initial Facebook post. “Yes Whitney was feisty! But…but SHE LOVED BOBBY! AND SHE DID NOT DESERVE TO BE TALKED ABOUT LIKE THAT!” This isn’t the first time Brown Muhammad shared her controversial opinion about her famous brother’s life. After Houston passed away in 2012, Brown Muhammad said the incident was not a result of an accident, but rather foul play. And when her niece, Bobbi Kristina died in 2015, Brown Muhammad once again blamed the cause on suspicious circumstances. These days, Brown Muhammad seems to be on a crusade against her brother’s wife, Alicia. In a separate Facebook post, Brown Muhammad vowed to protect Bobby from meeting a similar fate as his ex-wife and daughter. “I am trying to help save my brother Bobby before his wife (Alicia) destroys him completely,” Brown Muhammad wrote on the social network. In another post, she warned, “Listen Alicia if you think for one minute that you are going to kill my brother and get away with it guess what? All I can say is you better stay prayed up.” Bobby’s son, Bobby Brown, Jr. responded to his aunt’s rants and implored her to stay positive. “Can you stop. Please,” he said. “Like you have to give it a rest auntie. Be proud of your brother and his accomplishments . Quit it with the negativity. It’s not cool at all.” Despite his sister’s accusations, Bobby has credited his faith in God and his wife, Alicia, with helping him finally find “peace” after so many years of turmoil. “My happiness definitely comes from us falling in love, me finding real love, me finding what I needed in life to transition to the next level of the man I’m going to be,” he shared on ESSENCE’s Yes, Girl! podcast. “She’s my peace. She’s my muse. She’s my everything.”
