Fandango Managing Editor, Erik Davis, first shared the news via his Twitter account shortly after the Golden Globe nominations were announced on Thursday morning.

Outside of Hollywood, the storyline, representation, and over all tone present in Black Panther resonated deeply within Black communities across the globe, creating a cultural phenomenon unlike any other.

With a predominantly Black cast, amazing performances throughout and a Black director at the helm, the nomination only adds to the endless list of reasons why Oscar buzz continues to build around arguably the best film of the year.

Although Marvel has yet to comment on this specific accolade, the Marvel Entertainment Twitter account did send out a tweet celebrating Black Panther‘s three Golden Globe nominations.

The 2019 Golden Globe Awards will air January 6 at 8PM ET on NBC.
