DuVernay is co-writing and directing a film about one of the biggest moments in fashion, the story of the 1973 Palace of Versailles fashion show that put American designers, like late icons Oscar de la Renta and Stephen Burrows, on the map along with a ground-breaking number of African American models walking the runway. The film is based on fashion journalist Robin Givhan’s book The Battle Of Versailles: The Night American Fashion Stumbled Into The Spotlight And Made History.
