Angela Bassett is bringing Whitney Houston’s story to the small screen for the Lifetime Network.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Whitney Houston will tell the story of the late icon and Bobby Brown’s love story from their first meeting and high-profile courtship to their notoriously rocky marriage.
“I have such regard for both Whitney’s and Bobby’s amazing talents and accomplishments; and I feel a responsibility in the telling of their story,” Bassett said in a statement. “Their humanity and bond fascinates us all. I’m beyond excited to have this opportunity to go behind the camera and into their world.”
The film will be Bassett’s directorial debut and her return to Lifetime following last year’s collaboration on original movie Betty & Coretta. Whitney Houston is slated for a 2015 premiere.
