It’s only the beginning of the 2018 ESSENCE Fest, Day 1 to be exact, and the fash-uns are on point!
And it’s not just the street style—our iconic performers are hitting the festival stages in their best gear. Joining the Roots crew last night, Jill Scott and Erykah Badu took the stage to sing a slew of their hit songs.
Scott sashayed on stage like a golden goddess, wearing a jewel tone pair of fringed pants, with a metallic top and cape jacket to match.
Badu, always the avant-garde creator, stole the show with her oversized top hat, army green jacket, red basketball jersey, palazzo pants (tucked into her 70’s style disco boots), and patchwork overcoat. And in true Badu fashion, she disappeared and re-emerged during her second act, wearing a red chiffon and satin flouncy overcoat that enhanced her red jersey.
The ladies killed the stage and have set the bar high for Day 2 of festival fashions!
