Did Drake Go Too Far With Kid Cudi Diss?

On Sunday, Drake dropped three new tracks after announcing new project More Life in December. The song that garnered the most attention is “Two Birds, One Stone,” in which Drake mocks Kid Cudi‘s mental health issues. He raps: “You were the man on the moon / Now you just go through your phases / Life of the angry and famous / Rap like I know I’m the greatest / Then give you the tropical flavors / Still never been on hiatus / You stay xanned and perked up / So when reality set in you don’t gotta face it.” Kid Cudi checked himself into rehab earlier this month, sharing the struggles he’s faced and the shame he felt about battling depression. “Its been difficult for me to find the words to what Im about to share with you because I feel ashamed. Subscribe to our daily newsletter for the latest in hair, beauty, style and celebrity news. Ashamed to be a leader and hero to so many while admitting I’ve been living a lie. It took me a while to get to this place of commitment, but it is something I have to do for myself, my family, my best friend/daughter and all of you, my fans,” he wrote on Facebook. He added that he’d entered rehab for depression and suicidal urges and with that statement, kicked off a much-needed discussion about masculinity, Black men, and mental health. After listening to Drake’s “Two Birds, One Stone,” many people believe the rapper’s shots at Kid Cudi were uncalled for and an incredibly low blow. Some took to Twitter to voice their thoughts.
