Rising rap lyricist Chika has been captivating listeners with her smooth but potent musical style and filter-free lyrics for the past few years, but 2018 has seen her take her unique skill set to new heights.
Constantly using her lyrics to speak on social, political and cultural injustices targeting Black and LGBT communities, the 21-year-old Alabama native made headlines this past April for her now-viral freestyle in which she took Kanye West to task for his disgraceful comments about slavery and support of Donald Trump.
Earlier this week, Chika once again channeled her extraordinary talent into a heartfelt and powerful tribute to Nia Wilson—the 18-year-old who was fatally stabbed by a white assailant whom she reportedly had no connection to at a BART train station in Oakland, CA last week.
