It’s the start of Black History Month and we already have breaking news that will make your heart melt.

Because Of Them We Can released a mock CNN breaking news segment with child actors taking on the roles of CNN anchor Don Lemon, and network regulars Angela Rye, April Ryan, Symone Sanders and Bakari Sellers. And their impressions are spot on!

“Black excellence is at an all-time high,” said kid Don Lemon before introducing his guests to talk about recent Black achievement.

“Of course it’s at an all-time high,” a sassy Rye responds.

“Black folks consistently go high!” adds Sanders.

When Lemon asks for examples, (“Don, we don’t have time,” Rye quips) the group name checks the likes of Serena William, Issa Rae, Ava Duvernay, Lena Waithe, Oprah Winfrey, Dapper Dan and Richelieu Dennis (plus the sale of ESSENCE) among others.

They also pointed out the political wave that not only “saved Alabama,” but also saw the election of Black politicos in Alabama, Virginia and North Carolina.

“Atlanta has a Mayor named Keisha!” Rye said.

Of course, they couldn’t forget the Black Excellence also taking place in Hollywood with the likes of Black Panther, A Wrinkle In Time, Girls Trip, Hidden Figures, and Get Out breaking records.

The real-life Lemon, Sanders, Ryan and Sellers all tweeted their love for the skit.

“Listen, Black folks have always been dope and will always be dope,” says Sanders at the end of the skit.

Rye adds: “Ain’t nothing fake about that news!”

The Because Of Them We Can campaign has a goal “to educate and connect the young generation to Heroes who have paved the way…”

Happy Black History Month, everyone. What a start!
