On Tuesday, Black-ish stars Yara Shahidi and Marcus Scribner stopped by The Real to talk about the show, but the topic soon switched to Prince. Shahidi shared a fond memory of the late music icon and family friend.

“I have so many memories,” Shahidi told co-host Loni Love. “But I’d have to say one. When my first movie came out, Imagine That, he actually rented a theater so that everybody was able to go see it.”

Shahidi’s father, Afshin Shahidi, was one of Prince’s personal photographers, so the actress probably has a number of stories to tell about the legend. She went on to add there’s a photo of her in Paisley Park, saying, “And what’s crazy is they opened up Paisley Park and there’s still a picture of me in his office, which was surreal when I first got that message like I’m still in the office…so that was quite a moment. I mean honestly, he has given my family the ability to do what we want and embrace the fact that we are all a family of creatives…so, we owe a lot to him!”

Can you imagine growing up and having Prince as a close family friend? Insane!
