This weekend, nearly every woman (and a few men) on the planet nearly fainted when news broke that Hollywood heartthrob Idris Elba suffered an asthma attack.
The star fell ill aboard a flight to South Africa en route to the premiere of his new film, A Long Walk to Freedom. Thankfully, attendees were able to rescue Elba from the plane and transport him to a London hospital, where he was treated and released.
Despite his health scare, Elba managed to fly out of London on Sunday and make it to some of the festivities. He told Sky News after the attack, “I’ve battled asthma most of my life and it just overwhelmingly took me down on Friday while I was sitting on a plane.” Elba said although it was a “scary” situation, he is thankful a doctor was on the plane.
When we posted the news on our Facebook wall, worried and dedicated fans shared theirs prayers for Elba while others volunteered their nursing services. (Some even offered mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, if he needed it, of course!)
